About

Sam Winton

Sam Winton writes progression fantasy. Rise of the Arcane Aristocrat is the first series under the name and it is complete in four books, with over three thousand ratings and a 4.6 star average on Amazon.

Sam Winton has wanted to be an author since he first worked out that was a thing a person could be. Fantasy was the genre from the beginning, mostly. Progression fantasy is what turned the interest into a job.

He writes from New Zealand, after a long run of jobs that all came down to writing in the end. He breeds goldfish. He has also crashed on skis hard enough that strangers came over afterwards to tell him it had been spectacular. It broke a thumb. He maintains it was worth it.

About the series

A man who was, by any measure, the most powerful mage of his age dies sealing away something he could not kill, and wakes in the body of a boy with no power worth the name. He has all the knowledge and none of the ability. What follows is the climb.

Readers tend to point at the same three things. He is a noble of very little means rather than the usual overpowered heir. He wins by being cleverer than the people across from him long before he is stronger than them. And the series ends properly, in four books, rather than sprawling on for a decade.

There is one cliffhanger, between books three and four. Book four is already out, so nobody has to sit with it.

What is next

The next Sam Winton series is on the way. There is no date yet, and there will not be an announcement anywhere except by email, which is the entire reason the reader list below exists.
